Gita Chapter 18 - Supreme

-Krishna insists for relinquishment and finally guides to abandon all forms of dharma and simply surrender unto him as an ultimate perfection of life. (Saranagathi)

1. Sacrifices and renunciation are to be done by grasping the meanings and clearing doubts in performance.

2. Sacrifies for purification of heart is only permitted but not for prompting any self desire for pleasure.

3. It is worth to give up any acts containing evil approach, but perform all others aimed in good faith.

4. Declaring truths supported by the scriptures and showing much regards to the scriptures are laudable.

5. Sacrifice, which is meant for human welfare, should never be given up, as they are purifiers of wise men.

6. Without expectation of result and hope of reward, activities should be performed as duty.

7. Ti give up prohibited duties is advisable, whereas abandonment of prescribed duties in ignorance is bad.

8. Duties should never be considered as troublesome one or as causing fear, physical strain or discomfort.

9. A good form of renunciation must be only as prescribed and done without attachment to its fruit.

10. Duties done impartially and not in prejudice can wipe out sins and free them from bondage of actions.

11. Though a seed sown in soil is sure to become tree, it is better even to renounce the fruits of actions.

12. Disinterested actions neutralize good and evils of previous lives and so no enjoyment or suffering.

13. Understanding the process of counteracting actions is necessary in order to prepare for sacrifice.

14. The five causes for factors of any action are body, performer, senses, endeavors, and super soul.

15. Work done by men perfectly as prescribed in scriptures by mind, speech and body is always right.

16 .Pure minds with controlling and discriminating powers is possible with association of good people.

17. If not in ego and intelligence not entangled, even harming a person is adjudged as incorrect.

18. Knowledge, object, and knower motivate actions. Senses, work and performer are its constituents.

19. Among the divisions of material nature, knowledge from the mode of goodness is illuminating one.

20. The knowledge seen in all entities in innumerable forms should be viewed as mode of goodness only.

21. Body is the living entity and with the destruction of the body consciousness is also destroyed.

22 Just Knowledge of keeping the body comfortable, without any truth in it, is only a mode of ignorance.

23. Actions without attachment, love or hatred, desire for furtive results is said as the mode of goodness.

24. Action with a sense of false ego and in seeking to gratify desires is action in the mode of passion
.
25. Ignorance is action in illusion, disregarding concern for future bondage, violence or distress.

26. Perform duty with determination and enthusiasm, but without ego, and wavering in success or failure.

27. A Person who seeks enjoyment of his work is a man with greedy, envious, impure and pleasure addicted.

28. Working against injunctions of scripture shows only laziness, cunning, cheating and procrastinating.

29. Intelligence and determination are based on three divisions of Knowledge, its object and the knower..

30. Discrimination of works to be carried out, by knowing aspects of its fear, bondage is always good.

31. Principles of Good (Dharma) and bad (Adharma) and actions discriminating right or wrong must be known.

32. Improper understanding due to illusion and darkness makes to know truth as untruth and untruth as truth.

33. Yoga is fixing in Supreme with determination, concentration, and control of mind, body and senses.

34. Seeking a reward for actions with fondness virtues earthly possessions and enjoyments is mode of passion.

35. Never cultivate any illusion, moroseness, fearfulness, lamentation, and dreams in determination.

36. Sense gratification in good association is better than material happiness that leads to sorrow at times.

37. Procedures, rules, regulations may be poison like in the beginning, but will end in nectar like results.

38. Happiness derived from senses must be avoided by all means as it will cause only distress then.

39. Ignorance, actions in sleep and laziness make difficult errors both in the beginning and at the end.

40. People are distinguished by qualities born of their nature in three modes as Satva, Rajas and Thamo.

41. Inborn qualities and control of mind in nature are to be formed as a basis for professions in general.

42. Best people works in peacefulness, austerity, purity, tolerance, honesty, knowledge and wisdom .

43. Warriors have qualities of power, resourcefulness heroism determination, courage and leadership.

44. People of categories in business, farming, labor, protection of animals and service has to do sincerely.

45. With keen attention on natural duty in highest perfection, one can reach fulfillment in realization.

46. Work is worship and Worship of God helps in attaining perfection to the works carried out by one.

47. Do the prescribed work effectively, and note that works performed are not affected by sinful reactions.

48. Like smoke in fire, flaws of demerits may be clouded in any works but they must be done sincerely.

49. Control of mind without material desires, and unattached intelligence are called as renunciation.

50. All practices forming part of the discipline of knowledge is taken as complete realization of Truth.

51. An intellect is who is not retaining any sins incurred in previous lives and with purified spirits.

52. Regulation of diet is taking food not only for easy digestion, but also to be suitable to nature.

53. Self-realization is not possible, in false natures of ego, lust, anger, proprietorship, strength and pride.

54. Materially affected person often laments or desires to have anything and so become ever miserable.

55. Devotional service is better as every living entity is a part and parcel fragmental portion of God.

56. God protects all pure devotees, and gives a joy of eternal, imperishable, and full of knowledge.

57. Activities done faithfully on the direction of his master in even mindedness is always protected.

58. Obstacles of conditioned life can be tackled easily only when there is no false ego in that.

59. One should act unhesitatingly to execute any work assigned, to keep safe under all circumstances.

60. It is better to adopt the rules completely, from the beginning as a principle, to achieve full success.

61. One should not think himself as independent, but should bear in mind that there is a supreme knower .

62. Surrender before God helps in achieving success and also gets relieved from all kinds of miseries.

63. Acting fully on the advices given in more confidential nature by a master, is always the best.

64. Just always be True and ever think of Supreme God is one of the essence of Gita to all entities.

65. Concentration of the mind in God makes God as exceptionally best friend to guide in all matters.

66. Surrendering God without fear and worry, save one from sinful reactions and gets protection. of God.

67. Understanding is possible only in undergoing the austerities of the process, and as a pure follower.

68. Pure devotional state is guaranteed if one reads Gita and follows all its doctrines sincerely.

69. In the entire universe, God is the only dear to us and nobody else is of more loving service than Him.

70. Gita is not just a conversation only, but it is a great teaching to mankind to start with intelligence.

71. People without envy attain the dwelling place of calmness and are ever free from sinful reactions.

72. All those who read Gita are sure to become a liberated person and get out of the darkness.

73. When an illusion is over, our doubts are cleared; full memory is then gained to act in a proper way.
