Gita Chapter 3 - Duty


- Arjuna when tries to attribute the reasons of war, Krishna says that duties have to be performed without attachments is the only solution.

1. Better avoid dreadful sins that are forced to commit on emergency situations, while performing duty.

2. All duties are to be chalked out clearly and distinctly, considering definite course of discipline.

3. The twofold paths of wisdom and action renounce the feeling of egoism, attachment and desire.

4. Renunciation of action is impossible, and no perfection can be attained merely by ceasing to act.

5. The qualities of nature compel men not to refrain from the prescribed actions even for a moment.

6. Outward restraint of the senses from sense objects is just hypocrisy, and deluding the intellect.

7. Controlling the sense organs by one's will power without any attachment on that is always the best.

8. Not doing the allotted duty always causes downfall only, and so performance is better always.

9. Through disinterested fruits on actions of work, one can attain purity of heart and realize truth.

10. Man following charities, austerities, personal services etc with due regards always prosper well.

11. Any worship, charities, sacrifice to the God have to be done only without aiming on its results.

12. Men who scrupulously perform the duty are sure to get all its enjoyments unasked by them.

13. Accumulation of objects of enjoyment for personal gratification depriving other's share is only a sin.

14. Duty in the form of sacrifice causes more rain and thus foodstuffs come into being to flourish.

15. Any person seeking truth realization should make it a point to do everything obeying its commands.

16. Neglecting the work only creates confusion in the world, thereby results more offences and crimes.

17. Action of ego less and no form of attachment or desire is always considered as pure and ideal one.

18. Great people have no selfish requirements; have nothing special to perform or not to perform.

19. Do your allotted duty with due regard to the order of the society, and according to the stage in life.

20. We should go on acting more vigorously, from the point of view of maintaining the world in good order.

21. The good standard of morality is just whatever the great man establishes by his precept and practice.

22. Duties are to be done continuously as ordained duty, even after obtaining its good results.

23. Performing the duties with great vigilance and care, without any cause for lapses is necessary.

24. Failure to do duties cause selfish, corrupt and immoral and may indulge in arbitrary wicked actions.

25. Wise men are those who act without any attachment, but in the interest of the progress in world.

26. Concentration of allotted work with full faith, reverence and interest is sure to attain fruit.

27. Egoism makes loss of power of discrimination due to deluded mind and thoughts as doer of things.

28. Understand correctly the relation of the essential qualities of every action and its attachments.

29. Perfection in knowledge is not only in following them, but also in instructing others to do sincerely

30. Dedicating actions result in ceasing existence of the sense of possession, high hopes and mental fevers.

31. Men of all castes, communities, nationalities have only uniform stable code of conducts to follow.

32. A Person who finds fault with right action has just shown ignorance and degradation in the world.

33. All forms of vice and evil conduct takes leave immediately, when one does good things and actions.

34. Attractions and repulsions are only obstruction to right path and are not to be yielded at any time.

35. Doing one's own duty in good merits is preferred than doing other’s duty, even better than this.

36. Wise men are seemed to be carried away involuntarily by force by the turbulent senses at times.

37. As Desire, often forced to commit more sins and is the root of all evils, is man's greatest enemy.

38. When the mind gets spoiled by some impurities of sin, it shuts out immediately the light of truth.

39. The worst enemy of the intelligent people is their liking only, which cause destruction like fire.

40. The mind, the intellect and the senses should always be under full control of every individual.

41. All should first control their senses and then kill the evil thing of, slaying the desire with them.

42. God is greater than intellect, mind, and senses though everyone is said as most powerful one.

43. Desire is powerful and difficult to overcome, and it is also a number one to be rejected.
